The7th iATS conference, 1- 4 November 2019, was successfully finished in College of Chinese Opera, Shanghai Theatre Academy. The conference focused on theme, Independence and Assimilation. We are grateful Professor Zhang Weipin, Organizer, thanks to Professor Zhang, the iATSc contributed to explore a meaningful topics of Asian theatres and performances. Papers from four universities 22 in all were given there and also substantial discussion was held. Also 7 scholars from Osaka, Seoul and Taipei, and graduate studies from the four universities had close interaction through the conference. The Best Papers Awards was given to the four young scholars, Toshiki Matsumoto, Osaka University, Junmi Yeh, Korean National University of Arts, Xingyue Wag, Shanghai Theatre Academy, and Chang Wei-Wen, Taipei National University of the Arts. They suggested enough to create some new perspectives of theatre studies in Asia. We will hold next iATS conference 2020 in Osaka. We expect to be much more attractive for many participants. Anyway, thank you again, Professor Zhang and the colleagues, concerned persons in the college for all your efforts and hospitality to hold this lovely conference.
